Bert Sugar Dead At 75 - Boxing News

Boxing Hall Of Fame inductee Bert Sugar passed away after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

He was 75.

Sugar was also the former editor and publisher of the historic 'The Ring' magazine from 1979-1983.

The legendary promoter Bob Arum of 'Top Rank' was one of the first to share his thoughts on the boxing icon whose work spanned generations.

"Bert was a great asset to boxing, and he was a very knowledgeable guy. Obviously, we at Top Rank will miss him, as will everybody else who is involved in boxing."

Michael Buffer of the famous "Let's get ready to rumble" catchphrase also let his feelings be known about the long time writer.

"A unique, one-of-a-kind ringside character is gone, leaving a great legacy.

"Rest in peace, dear friend.

"You were loved and admired by so many."
