1.) The first of all the organizations created was the WBA in 1921. At that time it was still the NBA or National Boxing Asscociation.

2.) 'The Ring' magazine began awarding championship belts in 1922.

3.) There are 17 weight divisions.

4.) The WBC was founded in Mexico in 1963.

5.) The IBF was created in 1976.

6.) The WBO was founded in 1988.

7.) The National Boxing Association (WBA) sanctioned its first title fight in 1921 between Jack Dempsey and Georges Carpentier for the heavyweight championship.

8.) 'The Ring' magazine stopped giving belts to the world champions in the 1990s but began again in 2002.

9.) At seven feet tall and 328 lbs., Russian Nikolai Valuev is the tallest and heaviest boxer to ever hold a professional world title.

10.) Archie Moore had the most knockouts in pro boxing with 145.
