The event orginated from an effort to find the top super-middleweight boxer and although there were many obstacles along the way, fans will get to see what should be a great fight.
In one corner you have an Olympic gold medalist in Andre Ward who knows he belongs here rand feels the recognition is long overdue.
“It’s been a long time coming, almost 15 years of grinding and toiling when no one is around patting you on the back and there are no lights, camera, action.
“The lights and the cameras have just been coming around the last five, six, seven years, but we’ve been grinding for many, many years. Winning fighter of the year would be icing on the cake for winning this tournament.”
In the other corner, the gritty Carl Froch who hasn't lost as an amateur or a professional since he was fourteen, feels he's the better boxer in his own right. He looks to give British boxing fans what they have been missing since former champions Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton retired.
“I’ve come up the hard way, but I’m finally starting to get the recognition and credit I deserve,” Froch said. “People are counting on me to restore pride in British boxing.”
