Colorado's Mike '303' Alvarado (33-0, 23 KOs) got a huge win Saturday night as part of the Marquez vs. Fedchenko / Rios vs. Abril HBO PPV event.
The dominating performance came at the expense of the game Mauricio Herrera (18-2, 7 KOs).
Although it was an entertaining fight that saw the two trade toe-to-toe for the final :20 seconds, Alvarado had his way with the overmatched Herrera from the opening bell and was able to finish stronger than his counterpart, trying to KO Herrera in the 9th.
To Herrera's credit , he was able to keep himself upright until the end.
Alvarado's efforts earned him a unanimous judges decision that was scored 99-91, 97-93, and 96-94.
By the end of the bout, Herrera's battered face reflected the amount of shots that Alvarado was able to land over the ten rounds.
