With Jones vs. Evans looming, it's time to take a look at the moneylines from the main-event of UFC 145.
For those new to betting on MMA, it's a quick and easy way to build up a bankroll if you adhere to some basic rules.
The number one rule you must abide by to be successful is never wagering more than 3-5% of your total bankroll you are working with. For example, if your bankroll is currently $100, you wouldn't want to risk more than $5.
The logic behind this all comes down to odds, numbers, and statistics.
If you only risk the 3-5% each time, this will grow your bankroll slower but the small amount risked will help cancel out or compensate the losses you will incur. This will give you the best chance at building your earnings incrementally over time.
Better than the stock market if done right.
The second rule to when it comes to betting on Mixed Martial Arts is to never bet on the favorite of the main or co-main event every single time. History has shown that the underdog wins roughly 50% of the time, give or take a percent or two as the numbers change.
If you break this down, you could bet on the underdog everytime and come out ahead based on the amount risked versus the payoff. Let's apply this to the Jones vs. Evans matchup.
Jones is coming in at an unthinkable (ask the iceman) (-505) as the favorite. The favorite is always indicated with the minus sign and the favorite a plus. Evans is a (+405) as the underdog.
This means you would have to risk $5.05 to win $1 on Jones. A bet of $1 would return $4.05 on Evans.
