3 Reasons For Dos Santos vs. Henderson

In the the wake of the recent Alistair Overeem headlines, there's been much speculation about which heavyweight should now get to face Junior Dos Santos at UFC 146.

No matter who steps in the octagon that night to face Jr., overcoming the elite striking skills of the divisions current heavyweight champion with be a monumental task.

That said, here are 3 reasons why Mixed Martial Arts veteran and fan favorite Dan Henderson should get the shot.

1.) He Deserves The Fight - Some MMA fans have voiced their sentiment that Henderson doesn't deserve a shot at the UFC heavyweight belt. I couldn't disagree more with that. With 37 professional MMA fights on his resume, plus the fact his last four wins have been over the likes of 'Shogun', Fedor, Cavalcante, and Renato Sobral respectively, not to mention the unusual circumstances of UFC 146, why not? Don't forget the fact that Fedor was considered by most to be the best pound for pound fighter on the planet not too long ago.

2.) 'Hendo' Will Test Dos Santos - By no means would I guarantee a Henderson win, but I'm calling my shot that Henderson would test the current heavyweight champion if the matchup were to go down. I could see Henderson pushing this to at least the 4th round landing his signature overhand right more than once to the dome of  Junior. The 'Pride' veteran in Henderson would likely win a battle or two over the course of the fight, but it would be Jr. that would win the war, retaining the UFC hw strap. What do you think would happen?

3.) Do It For The Fans - Is there really anybody out there that wouldn't love to see these two throwdown, regardless of any rankings, records, or anything else? The only other one close to deserving the chance other than Hendo is Mir and White has already stated he will still face Velasquez the same night. As a fan, I would rather see Henderson vs. Dos Santos than any of the other possible and feasible possibilities. Henderson will not go easy if at all so fans could expect to get their PPV dollars worth if this actually ends up happening.

**Honorable Mention - Dana White Guaranteed Him A Title Shot** - This one easily could have been #1, but I wanted to keep it fight related for the top 3. Not only are the above points difficult to dispute, but considering the fact that the boss man himself  promised 'Hendo' a title shot recently, the UFC should be this happen at UFC 146.
