Here is a quick look at 5 of the best upcoming fights in the UFC over the next couple of months:
.) Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz / UFC On Fox 3 - This one has 'Fight Of The Night' written all over it. Miller and Diaz have a combined 12 'Of The Night' honors between the two of them. Miller is 8-1 over his last nine fights with the loss coming against the current champion Benson Henderson. Diaz dominated the always tough Cerrone from the first to final bell. And no, not on the ground. This was in the standup realm as Cerrone's muay thai was no match to Diaz's boxing. Diaz by decision.
.) Donald Cerrone vs. Jeremy Stephens / UFC On Fuel TV 3 - Anytime you have two fighters facing each other that are also both coming off of losses, you know it's to be nothing short of fireworks. A two fight losing streak is a recipe for disaster in the UFC for any fighter. 'Cowboy' recently came out on the losing side of a recent 'FOTN' performance versus Nate Diaz. Jeremy Stephens, the owner of the UFC's best uppercut in history, will be looking to rebound from his recent loss against Anthony Pettis at UFC 136. Make mine Cerrone.
.) Duane Ludwig vs. Dan Hardy / UFC 146 - Being this is a Rocky Mountain combat news site, we couldn't leave out Duane Ludwig as he faces the almost "unemployed" Dan 'The Outlaw' Hardy. Hardy is riding a four fight losing streak coming in to UFC 146. Two of those losses are at the hands of GSP and Carlos Condit, but the losses to the now cut Anthony Johnson and the retired Chris Lytle were questionable. Ludwig is on the heels of a loss after seeing a resurgence in his career of the last couple of years. Watch for Ludwig to get the win.
.) Evan Dunham vs. Edson Barboza / UFC 146 - Edwin Barboza is one of the more underrated fighters currently and one I would put my money on every time until he shows some form of weakness in his game. When you take at look at his overall body of work he has compiled it's more than impressive. This includes his highlight reel worthy spinning KO kick over Terry Etim. Dunham has been impressive in his own right with his only two losses coming to Shawn Sherk and Melvin Guillard. Barboza by KO in the second round.
.) Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II / UFC 147 - After keeping his legacy intact after his last gasp triangle submission win over Sonnen back at UFC 117, 'The Spider' gets another dose of Chael Sonnen. This time look for Silva to dispatch the wannabe politician as quickly as possible, doing a better job of using his range to keep Sonnen's takedowns at bay. Silva will be in his own back yard so there's no doubt he is looking to put on a show. That, and put a stamp and ribbon on the Sonnen feud once and for all. Silva by TKO in the first round.
