What We Learned From Pacman vs. Bradley

As the dust settles after the controversial ending to the Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight, here are 3 things we learned from yet another "black eye" for the sport:

1.) PacMan vs. Mayweather Jr. Will Never Happen - This was likely always the case for different reasons, but with a pending rematch between Bradley and Pacman and Mayweather Jr. sitting in the clink, I think it's time for boxing fans to forget about what would be the biggest fight ever and focus on some of the other rising, exciting talent on the sports landscape. Fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Nonito Donaire, Saul Alvarez, and Andre Ward to name just a few. Hopefully the likes of Bob Arum, the 'Golden Boy' staff, and the fighters themselves including their camps, will someday look back with many regrets about what might have been.

2.) Pacman NeedsTo Finish Bradley In Rematch - Nobody wants a suspect decision in boxing or MMA, but I like the fact that this will likely serve as a "wake up call" for Pacman who had his 7 year winning streak snapped. In past fights, Pacquiao sometimes seem to showboat and dance around when it looks like he could end the fight if he chose to. Let's not forget that many tied to the sport felt that Manny lost all 3 fights to Marquez. Fans don't want to see Pacman leave it in the judges hands anymore. Manny will have to stop Bradley in November to gain some respect back in my eyes. Otherwise, lets look to the future and some new faces.

3.) Business As Usual For The Sport - Unfortunately, this outcome has served the boxing haters well, becoming the #1 argument against boxing as we continue the boxing vs. MMA talk. In reality, I'm tired of the comparison. I love and follow both. They are completely different and separate sports. Although leaving the outcome in the judges hands is always a gamble, even in MMA, this decision was ludicrous. Watch for the bandwagon MMA fans who wouldn't know Hagler from Hearns let alone actually watch boxing to pile on and continue to beat the same old tired drum about why boxing sucks.

**Honorable Mention - Boxing Still Has A Huge Following** - You need to look no further than the headlines this morning across the country and the uproar this decision has stirred up to know boxing is alive and well. Sort of. In a way, the unwanted publicity is good. This shows how many boxing fans are in the shadows, possibly waiting in the wings for a heavyweight contender from the U.S.A. to rise up or those that are weary of not having a top draw without "Money" or "Pacman" in their name. For those that were boxing fans in the past, I recommend doing some research on the other up and coming fighters out there. 'The Sweet Science' is still sweet.
