Margaret Bloom Set To Make History, Again

Wyoming's Margaret Bloom will be looking to get back in the win column on May 12th as part of the ground breaking inaugural event for the newly created 'Women's Fighting Championship'.

Fresh off 'Kickdown 100', a historic event in it's own right, promoter and Rocky Mountain MMA pioneer Steve Alley has once again managed to push the envelope, coming up with a great way to grow the interest in Womens MMA across the region.

Bloom spared no words when sharing her feelings about what it means to be part of history as she is set to appear on the promotions first card.

"I am so excited by the Women's Fighting Championship! Steve Alley has hit on something big, here. This is a promotion that will soon go nationwide.

"While the initial show will be in Wyoming, Steve has stated that it will also be hosted in Denver and in other Midwestern states.

"We are in on the beginning of an incredible movement to elevate women in MMA.

"This is an incredible venue to showcase amateur and professional female fighters. Being in the same locker room as some of these ladies turns me into a little kid staring up at her heroes. The heart and the dedication to the sport that I see in female fighters is inspiring."

After riding a multi-fight win streak that saw her earn the 'Kickdown' womens fly-weight title, Bloom will now be trying to get back on track after dropping a tough fought decision loss to Heather Sachleben at the aforementioned 'Kickdown 100'.

As a longtime MMA veteran, Bloom was clearly able to breakdown what went wrong in her last outing as she gears up for May 12th.

"I felt a mental connection to that fight that I had not felt to date. I thought I was able to calm my emotions and be "present" for the fight. I really enjoyed that battle!

"She was the more aggressive of the two of us and her punches were accurate and strong. I felt that my head movement was a strong point, but am disappointed in my own punches and hand positioning.

"I've had the opportunity to watch the fight, verifying what I thought were delinquencies in my performance. I hope to grow my aggression in the cage, as thus far I have proven to be more of a defensive fighter."

Next up for Bloom is Wyoming's Staci Vega.

"May 12th I will be competing against Staci Vega. Staci is also from Casper, and we trained together when I first started in MMA. She has since gone on to be a strong boxing competitor and I'm excited to see her back in the cage. She is 1-2, winning her last fight in February.

"I know Staci has training partners well versed in wrestling and jui jitsu, therefore I know she will be more than capable standing and on the ground. I'm really looking forward to facing her in the cage! I really enjoy an opponent that shares a love for the sport."
