Estrella Looking For Next Victim

Colorado's rising boxer Dononvan Estrella (2-0 pro) notched another win on his belt as part of the 'Friday Night Fights' event hosted by the newly created 'Sundown Entertainment' Rocky Mountain boxing promotion.

The win came at the expense of Hilario Medina November 8th in Colorado Springs.

'TheFightWire.com' spoke with the surging prospect after the big win to get his take on what went down.

"It was a good fight.

"All respect to Hilario. He's a good fighter, a strong fighter so I had to go in there and execute my game plan and that's what I did."

During the battle, Estrella had to overcome some adversity that  resulted in Medina getting a point deducted during the bout.

Likely from getting frustrated by Estrella's "make 'em miss, make 'em pay" style.

"I would come in and get socked in the back of my head like ten times."

With the win in pocket, Estrella has no plans to take it easy as he is set to get right back at it.

"Starting Monday I go back into training camp. December 6th I'm going to go out there and just execute the game plan again."

At the time of this interview, Estrella was set to take on Chris Galvadon on December 6th as part of Steve Mestas' 'Airtight Boxing' event, but shortly after Friday night, Galvadon withdrew.

In spite of this, Estrella is still planning on fighting on the 'Airtight Boxing' card as his camp searches for a willing combatant.

As for life's bigger picture in terms of boxing, the eighteen year old has high aspirations.

"To just follow my dreams and be a world champion. I'm only eighteen so my dad and me will keep planning ahead and seeing what's next. Whoever's next, line'em up, I'm going to take them down."

Lending some credence and much world class ring intuition to Estrella's corner is his Uncle, pastor Tilo Lopez.

'TheFightWire.com' was able to get a few words with the inspiration behind his nephew's refined skills regarding how it felt to be in his corner for the win.

"It feels outstanding.

"Donovan is a very teachable kid. He learns, he listens and he does what we ask him to do. He's going to go all the way to the top because he does that.

"It feels great to be in his corner and be that person of trust that he depends on. It's a blessing to me.

"I fought for ten years and was a three time champion. I just take what I know, what he knows and put them together.

"He will be twice the fighter I ever was."

Stay tuned for word on Estrella's next opponent.
