Hale was originally slated to face Vinicius Kappke de Queiroz but that changed after Queiroz was injured forcing him to withdraw.
The bout was from the preliminary card of 'Bellator 96' Wednesday and was a short one as Martinez dropped Hale at the 2:19 mark of the first round.
Martinez came into the cage winning his last 7 of 8 fights and looks to be getting better each time out after moving to Las Vegas to train with the likes of Roy Nelson and 'King' Mo.
'Bellator' CEO Bjorn Rebney had no shortage of words when discussing Martinez prior to the fight.
“Ryan’s a huge potential player in our heavyweight division. We had him slotted for our next heavyweight tournament but paid him to be here and make weight as if he was going to fight just for this reason.
"And his back-to-back camps with [Lawal] and [Nelson] have him ready for tomorrow night’s fight.”
He was indeed.
