Longmont Athletic Club To Host 'Ghost Town'

As Colorado boxing fans get ready for 'Ghost Town Promotions' February 16th event 'Warriors Conquest II', they can also get ready for a change of venue for the stacked card.

'Ghost Town' events that had previously been held at the 'Boulder County Events Center' will now be hosted primarily at 'The Longmont Athletic Club', coming back to the fairgrounds every few shows.

Raul Utajara of  'The Longmont Boxing Club' and 'Ghost Town Promotions' talked about the new and promising partnership between himself and John Dykman of the 'Longmont Athletic Club'.

"He's going to be a big player up here with me. He's got an awesome venue which is going to generate a great fight environment for us. We've partnered to start a boxing series where we'll do several shows at the 'Longmont Athletic Club'.

"We'll still try to get to the fairgrounds at least twice a year."

For Utajara, the change came down to the obstacles involved with booking shows at the 'Boulder County Events Center'.

"It's very difficult to book dates there. It's an awesome venue but it's hard to get into. You have to get your dates in way, way in advance.

"Being in the boxing business, we start working on our shows about three months before. With the fairgrounds, you have to be booked a year in advance. A lot of the good dates are already taken by then."

Another exciting change for Colorado combat fans is the arrival of muay-thai kickboxing matches promoted by 'Ghost Town' with two matches on the upcoming 'Warriors Quest II' card.

Something Utajara saw a need for in Longmont.

"There's a big muay-thai following in the area and a lot of people that know we do the boxing have been asking me if we could get some muay-thai in there to.

"Eventually it might even turn out where we do a boxing event one month and a muay-thai show the following month. Just like with boxing, we'll make exciting matchups for the fans like our shows are known for.

"We're a fan friendly promotional company and we want to do the same thing with the kickboxing."
